Review of The Theory of Everything (2014) by Daniel C — 03 May 2015
A look at the life of Stephen Hawking and his wife, Jane. Brilliant.
A beautiful story about Stephen Hawking through his years at Cambridge, to meeting Jane and the trials and tribulations of their relationship from there after. ABC Radio's review is right in that as much as this appears to be a story about Stephen Hawking, it's actually a story about Jane more than anything and it takes on the view of the 'carer' in this relationship really well.
Eddie Redmayne's portrayal of Hawking is wonderful as his battle with motor neuron disease takes hold and pushes his relationship with Jane to the brink.
It's a bit of an emotional story as told from Jane's perspective but I also thought it was a nice look at the life of a great man who defied the outlook provided him by his doctors when diagnosed and brought three children into the world with the help of his loving wife.
I think it's worth a look :).
