Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning (2006) by Brittany P — 29 Jun 2009
I rated this film positively but was sorely disappointed. I went in expecting something other than the norm but it's not an 'origins' film at all. After a tiny bit of setup it's just yet another 'teens menaced by maniacs' type film with the same structure as the other five.
The only difference is that the gore is over the top and extremely repulsive, as with modern 'torture porn' films. Otherwise, it's pretty well made, just bland.
