Not scary at all, just gore for gores sake. At least the first remake tried to use more setting than gore. But considering this is a prequel to a remake it kinda defeats the purpose to put characters that show up in the remake in danger in a prequel.
We already know they're going to be ok. Shoulda added some more family members they coulda killed or something.
