Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) by Rodney E — 22 Oct 2008

One of my favorites from a kid. I wouldn't say that this is better than the original but it is the one that I grew up with and watched more. It scared the living shit out of me as a kid and was more of a definiton of fear for me than Freddy and Jason.

Pure lunatic horror is on screen here and the Sawyer Family is simply some of the craziest acting. The set design alone consisting of tunnels of skeletons and the adandoned amusement park is freaky. What I really liked was how to the general Texas society that The Cook was a respected Chilli entrepreneur when he was actually a raging cannibal.

Bill Moseley is awesome here as the maniacal ChopTop, who was the twin of the original's Hitchhiker and they sharte a lot of the same crazed mannerisms. The Hitchhiker is here too-as a corpse that ChopTop drags around.

The dynamic of the three family members is all here along with some over the top killings and gore. Caroline Williams is a DJ who winds up with a recording of two yuppies encountering Leatherface and family and is in used as bait to lure the family.

Dennis Hopper plays a Ranger who has a personal agenda in destroying the cannibal clan as his niece and nephew were victims from the original. The humor is jet black but funny and is gruesome enough to work as a horror movie.

Features plenty of bloodm faces peeled off, head plate scratching, and love between Leatherface and Williams. The dinner sequence is also up to par with the originals and a satifying climax goes down.

There are so many good line sin this. "look what you did to my plate." "Sex is..well nobody knows but the saw, the saw is family""Dog will hunt" and many many more.
