Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) by Zachary H — 11 Aug 2011

This is such a weak sequel to an awesome movie. Granted that that was Tobe Hooper's intention. He didn't want his series to turn into one of those horrible sequel spawning movie series that are so prevalent in the horror genre.

That said, it doesn't excuse the absolute wretchedness that is this movie. It is apparently supposed to be a comedy, but it fails at this as well. It isn't nearly funny enough in the writing or story to make the audience even giggle, and it isn't horrifying enough to be a worthy sequel.

Basically this is a big budget movie that was meant to run the series so far into the ground that it could never return because the fan-base was entirely alienated by this movie. Unfortunately, the beast known has Hollywood would not be stopped and sequels continued onward.

However, this movie is by far my least favorite of the sequels. Most people say The Next Generation is the worst sequel/film in the series. I, however, am entertained in a funny way by the attempt to be horror in that film.

Here there is nothing even to entertain me. It is useless as a film and entertainment.
