Review of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986) by Dan H — 26 Aug 2017
Very enjoyable, but doesn't feel like Texas Chainsaw. It's a wildly different take on the material, directed by Tobe Hooper, who made the original. This is a horror-comedy, and it's very silly (like a Leatherface who hip thrusts with his chainsaw because he's sexually frustrated).
It's a complete B-film. I had fun with the flick, and how bonkers it was. Unfortunately, the ending doesn't really resolve anything, instead choosing to spoof an iconic shot from the original.
It's not really that good of a film, but what do expect from Canon and Golan and Globus. Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is certainly a tough film to wrap your mind around. I will say that it is fun (and also disturbing and bloody, duh), and if you enjoy watching enjoyable bad films you may get something out of this.
As a horror-comedy, it works fine but as a Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.....not so much.
