Review of The Terminator (1984) by Daniel V — 14 Sep 2014
Studio wanted Arnold for the hero so James Cameron went to meet Arnold about being Kyle Reese, the man who takes on killer cyborg known as the Terminator. Secretly Arnold wanted to play the Terminator.
Secretly, James wanted Arnold for the Terminator. Both left the meeting not knowing that they were TOTALLY ON THE SAME PAGE!!! Thank God they made their feelings known because what we got was an instant Sci-Fi classic.
One of those movies that redefine the genre or Hollywood in general. Arnold was now a household name and on his way to becoming the biggest action star of all time. James Cameron would be on his way to be the biggest Box Office director of all time.
And this movie is one helleva ride. From the very beginning when Arnold and his naked stuff fuck up a couple of punks, one played by Bill Paxton. James loves having Arnold beat up his buddy, Bill. I've always thought Michael Biehn should've been a bigger star because Kyle Reese is a badass and father of the savior of the Human race.
Linda Hamilton's performance is lost in all the machismo but she just may be the toughest person in this flick. Hamilton balances the sweet innocent terrified little girl who eventually delivers, thru gritted teeth, "You're terminated, fucker.
" Throughout the movie we can actually see her evolve from that little girl to the tough as nails Mom to John Connor, the man who will save us all. When the somehow superior sequel is released 7 years later, Sarah Connor is a completely different person and it is completely believable.
"I'll be back." Yes he will, for a fifth time next year. YAY!!! Oh and did you notice the 100% rating? Yeah, pretty high distinction on this site, especially with at least 50 reviews.
