Review of The Terminator (1984) by Andrew K — 03 Jul 2015
Many will point that its sequel was technically superior, but the original Terminator definitely has a raw and dark feel that Terminator 2 lacks. If T2 was the technical masterpiece, T1 is when you see it in all its glory before it is refined.
The original looks very much of its time, with 80's synth's making up the bulk of the soundtrack and practical effects doing the best work possible before the advent of CGI. This version has the more intimidating villain, despite not being liquid metal.
Arnie nails it here, being ruthlessly cold and determined to achieve the objective.
