Review of The Tenant (1976) by Freddy F — 19 Jan 2008
Wow, what a strange mindfuck this movie is. Polanski himself plays the slightly awkward new tenant who moves into an apartment previously occupied by a mysterious suicide victim (or was it?) obsessed with Egyptology, who captures his imagination, to say the least.
Honestly, I'm glad I saw this movie because it makes my building seem like a step up. At least I don't have teeth stuffed in my walls. This movie had some of the scariest single shots I've seen recently, most of them having to do with the people standing for hours in the bathroom across from his apartment.
