Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Jason M — 12 Apr 2008
I don't know if generous slices of ham are essential in biblical epics or not but it certainly works for this one.
Never mind the bizarre historical references, or the creepy oedopal stuff, it's cracking entertainment.
Three and a half hours of it.
Charlton Heston with a fine mane of badger's hair, the boomy god shrub, the intermission music and the rad Egyptian posing of Yul Brynner make the time fly by...well, almost...not really...
Look, you'll really feel the three hours but in the end you'll think it's worth it so it's ok.
