Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Mike M — 23 Mar 2009
A fantastic film for its time, but Hestons recent unshakable, negative political agenda casts a shadow on his legacy. I dislike the guy, not to say I dislike the film, its very well made, a masterpiece of it's time.
But every line that Heston utters seems to end up feeling hyporcritical. The Bible is not hypocrytical. I have to say that by far the most definitive representation of this pivitol bible event is the 'Dreamworks' animated 'The prince of Egypt'.
It's less accruate, but far more emotionally resonant.
