Review of The Ten Commandments (1956) by Jexy G — 10 Jun 2009
Loved it when I was a kid watching it every Passover. It's just as good now, with one of the best soundtracks ever recorded for a movie, and Charlton Heston being ridiculously manly and awesome as Moses.
Yul Brynner is great as Ramses, and the special effects are still pretty decent today, especially the parting of the Red Sea. The ultimate classic movie from the days when movie actors were real men. It is so powerful and moving, DeMille is a true genius.
