Review of The Ten (2007) by Amit D — 07 Mar 2008
I feel this is a very weird kind of comic take on The Ten Commandments. Paul Rudd's narration is sick but some stories are well made. The standout stories are the ones about the guy embedded in the ground (the first story), then the one about Jesus Christ in Mexico.
The story in which Winona Ryder falls in love with a puppet is superb. Nice to see Winona after a long time. Jessica Alba looks wonderful in her cameo but is a little irritating and Famke Janssen sucks big time.
The best story in my opinion is the last one when the guy stays back at home instead of going to church so that he can get naked with his friends (mind you, it isn't gay) and listen to Roberta Flack.
I have no idea as to why I found it amusing, but the Roberta Flack idea was weirdly funny. The movie is good enough to watch once. The best performances are given by Winona Ryder, A.D. Miles, Rob Corddry, Ken Marino, Adam Brody and Liev Schreiber.
If you want to watch a real good movie, then you better avoid this as it is only watchable when you are bored.
