Review of The Ten (2007) by Todd H — 27 Sep 2008
Miss Ryder and the talking dummy are inspired, but the rest of this satiric look at the Ten Commandments is hit and (mostly) miss. "The Ten" is somewhat of a hybrid of the Zucker brothers' "Kentucky Fried Movie" from the 1970s (which was very funny) and recent breakup-then-makeup romantic dramadies (which haven't been very good).
Had it stuck with a relentlessly crude attitude and aimed to offend even more often, this would have worked. I chuckled quite a bit, but I also winced quite a bit (especially at the scenes with Paul Rudd).
