Review of The Temptress (1926) by Aj V — 01 Apr 2010
Watching The Temptress, it's hard to resist wondering if they simply picked keywords out of a hat and then built a movie around them (I know it's based on a novel, but that doesn't change things).
For example: Argentina, old world/new world Paris, adultery. IDK. It's not very good, although I do love Garbo. But the movie is really just wet and tiresome. Maybe if she had a competent leading man it would be worth watching, but it isn't.
I should say that the sets and costumes are gorgeous.
