The island of Okinawa during the American occupation of the late forties, and Ford's job is to indoctrinate the natives to good ol'Yankee values ... only the Okinawans, led by Marlon Brando as a smiling schemer in Asian makeup, have other ideas.
Ugly ideas clothed in a polite approach.
