Review of The Tall T (1957) by Stephen C — 06 May 2015
Budd Boetticher and Randolph Scott made a string of westerns in the 50s that are today quite rightly considered to be the finest in the genre.
This is one or there best.
Based on a story by Elmore Leonard this film shows how good guy and bad guy are 2 sides of the same coin.
Botticher distills the western elements down to there most basic levels and the script is designed to drive the action rahther than shoot outs .
Scott and Richard Boone are excellent as the opposing forces in the film and you really cant go wrong with a film of this calibre.
Its easy to see why Martin Scorsese is a fan of the Boetticher movies they really do deliver in spades.
