Review of The Tall Man (2012) by James W — 31 Oct 2013
The soundtrack and ambient effects are highly exaggerated, and the constant genre swapping is very annoying as one moment The Tall Man is a thriller, then suddenly a police drama and then ends up being a mystery movie, but a few damp squibs aside this is a creepy and fast moving thriller that benefits highly from a spectacular performance from Jessica Biel, a young woman who sets out to save her son after he is taken by the mysterious Tall Man, an entity who takes children who are never seen again.
Some say that the narrative is convoluted, but I don't think it is as it's filled with twists and turns galore, and if you listen carefully the character motives are clearly explained leaving you satisfied with the outcome and happy that all the questioned are answered.
I wouldn't highly recommend this movie but for fans of Jessica Biel, and people looking for a few scares then this is a good watch. Nice one Biel, top acting!
