I think I understand why Jessica Biel accepted this role and let me say that you are in for a huge twist; good story written and directed by Pascal Laugier. This is mystery and suspense but not horror unless you are horrified by the living conditions of the mining towns folk (and I was).

Very depressing surroundings, makes you wish you were someone else. In this setting you find nurse Julia Denning (Jessica Biel) helping out pregnant women with childbirth. The town has been plagued by mysterious kidnappings attributed to the "tall man"- a dark figured and tall man who snatches the kids at night.

Biel is skeptical of this myth until her son David is kidnapped at night by someone. So who is this tall man and does he really exist? Are the kids dead or alive? You will have to watch the film to find out and in one particular scene the story unravels and the viewer understands what is taking place.

Sometimes draconian problems require draconian solutions. Not everyone will like the message behind the film and the viewer is immersed by so much hopelessness and despair but you will understand at the end.
