Review of The Tall Man (2012) by Crankyerma — 13 Oct 2018
This isn't the kind of picture that you say you "loved" because of its subject matter but it's a film I definitely respect. It raises the subject of class in a way that is gripping and at times urgent.
While the film is sold as one kind of horror story, it's a bait and switch that serves up quite a different one that is far more real and terrifying. It should also be said that Jesicca Biel gives an incredibly telling and nuanced performance where much of the questions the viewer is pondering through the film are answered by her without dialogue.
Quite a cool trick. Ultimately, the film raises some serious questions even right up to the very last frame. I know where I stand, but I think folks owe it to themselves to view this film and make up their own minds.
