Review of The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974) by Yogesh R — 24 Sep 2007
'70s thriller with vintage NYC flavor and a great performance from one of cinema's greatest bad-asses, Robert Shaw.
Matthau is great as well, and the supporting cast includes Martin Balsam, Jerry Stiller, Hector Elizondo, Julius Harris, and the dude who played Wilson on "Home Improvement." (If you look carefully, you can even catch a glimpse of his face!) David Shire's deep-brass favoring score is also a nice touch.
But ultimately, the story just isn't satisfying.
