Review of The Tailor of Panama (2001) by Megan D — 14 Dec 2004
Geoffrey Rush is an amazing actor, and he playes beautifully in this film. But even his performance alone couldn't save it. I didn't like the film - premise is good, and the scenery, etc. is magnificent. However, Pierce Brosnan made a mess of himself - I would walk out of the room when he came on screen. Perhaps it is because I am so used to him playing suave, debonair types, but I hated his character, and it ruined the film for me. There was a lot of unnecessary sex... which normally wouldn't bother me, but it just did this time, most likely because it wasn't "good" sex... it was just loud, without purpose.
If you want to see a Geoffrey Rush performance, see Quills. It is a million times better.
