Review of The Sword of Doom (1966) by Tim V — 22 Jan 2008
Excellent, excellent sword fighting and conflict, and a great portrait of absolute evil. jealousy, rage, contempt. wonderful acting. you keep expecting some sort of redemption, but it never comes. the only thing that keeps me from giving it five stars is the ending, or lack of.
it comes from out of the blue and ignores the subplots completely. there's no resolution. it's as if the real ending was cut off. too bad, since the rest of the movie is so spectacular. could have gone up against kurosawa's best.
