Review of The Sword in the Stone (1963) by Pei-Jean L — 25 Nov 2008
This film has a number of memorable, and wonderful, moments in it; including the hungry, Archimedes, the giant fish in the moat, and especially the battle between Mim and Merlin, but the story does not sit near the top of the list of classic Disney films.
There is great nostalgia in the story, and it is truly a humorous film what with all of its moments of little humor and distractions, and the animation style is one wholly different from modern animated films like Wall-E (both stand out as their own enjoyable form), but the plot is a bit too subtle.
The events leading up to the making of King Arthur do not make for the greatest of tales, and the songs are not very memorable. This movie is great for remeberance sake, but not one of the Disney films that will stand tall in the test of time.
