Review of The Sword in the Stone (1963) by Trisha W — 10 Jul 2009
This Disney film was not something I particularly cared for when I was little. It didn't have princesses or things that would interest a little girl besides the few songs. But going back to watch it, the movie deserves a lot more credit.
The movie is funny with the little one liners that get Merlin and Wart into trouble. The little references to the future that we think nothing of now that obviously would be foreign to Wart and his era of neighbors are much more amusing now that I grasp the concept of that stuff not being in normal.
The movie made me smile as I watched it, but not because of reminiscing like most other classics that I re-watch. Besides this being the old style animation, which I very much miss, this movie was actually genuinely good and I'm so glad I took the time to rewatch it.
