Review of The Sword and the Sorcerer (1982) by Michael T — 25 Jun 2008
I kind of like this one despite the fact that Lee Horsley (yes, Lee Horsley) is the hero and that ridiculous sword that he carries is grating. This is one film where you really enjoy watching the bad guys.
Vetran character actor, Richard Lynch, is in top form as the evil Lord Cromwell while Richard Moll (Bull from NIGHT COURT) wears a monster mask and plays a sinister demonic sorceror. The fetching Kathleen Beller plays the damsel in distress, except she is very tough and has a knack for kneeing her male opponents where a guy just doesn't want to get kneed.
A sequel was advertised at the end, but the film did poorly and the sequel was never filmed. No great loss, but this one is a reasonably fun artifact from the early 1980s Swiord & Sorcery boom.
