Review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997) by Quecuatzl K — 23 Mar 2008
This first time I saw it (as with all Egoyan filmes) I thought it was melodramatic and pretentious. The second time I saw it, I thought it was awesome. All his films are completely different everytime you watch it, which is a good sign if you're a filmmaker.
The only fault is that he makes small town BC look like something a bespecled Toronto intellectual would think it is, but then again it is just a movie. Kudos for a wickedly strange soundtrack that is as far from canada as you can think of.
