Review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997) by Katie K — 03 Sep 2008
"The Sweet Hereafter" is one of those films that just keeps you guessing until you're totally confused and makes you question what you thought you knew two hours ago. With about three different plot lines running around at once, this film requires your undivided attention and you're sort of "putting the dots together" logic.
I loved the "Pied Pipper" parallels throughout as well as the powerful soundtrack. Egoyan surely makes a statement and plants himself in film history with this one.
