Review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997) by Gregg P — 23 Aug 2009
An extremely well-written film, layered with emotional depth and flawlessly structure, allowing itself to be driven by emotion rather than story. It's quite well directed as well, with a distinctive tone, and and overall tight, accomplished production.
It's really a shame that all the supporting performances (excluding Sarah Polley) range from bad to downright atrocious, which for me really detracted from an attachment to the story leaving me feeling very angry that such talent was squandered by a horrific cast.
