Review of The Sweet Hereafter (1997) by Morten Ø — 01 Dec 2010
"The Sweet Hereafter" is definitely a good movie, no doubt about it. A small town is left devastated after a school bus has accidentally sunk into a lake with all its children in it. Only two people has survived, who a foreign town lawyer (Ian Holm) wants to use in his trial against whoever was to blame for this accident.
The movie is just as much about the small town folks' opinion of eachother as it is about the actual accident and their grief.
"The Sweet Hereafter" contains beautiful photography and a well-combined soundtrack, which Sarah Polley provides vocals on.
