Nick Love's update of the 70's TV hit series, The Sweeney, to the 21st century, staring Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (aka rapper Plan B).

They play Flying Squad detective Jack Regan and his loyal partner George Carter, who are not afraid to step on the wrong side of the law to bring down London's toughest criminals.

When a jewelry heist takes place Regan suspects an old adversary is back on the scene, and is on a personal mission to take him off the streets. But with bureaucracy getting in the way of his own brand of policing and Internal Affairs breathing down his neck, will he get his man before the force gets him?

The Sweeney tears up London'ÂÂ(TM)s underbelly, slamming our favourite old school coppers brutally into the modern age. Winstone is well cast as the uncompromising Regan and Ben Drew puts in a decent debut performance as his sidekick. The rest of the cast are, however, pretty much unforgettable. The plot is weak and the dialogue's not much cop but there are some spectacularly staged gun fights and chases to enjoy.

The Sweeney is a stylish and gritty action packed police thriller.
