Review of The Swan Princess (1994) by Bianca J — 14 Apr 2012
To most people, this was an underrated animated film by a former director of two films for Walt Disney Animation Studios; "The Fox and the Hound" and a box office failure of all time "The Black Cauldron". But to everyone else, I'm quite certain that this has some good storytelling, wonderful choice of soundtrack and voice-over cast and etc.
Unlike Thumberlina (which had released the same year as both this film and Disney's "The Lion King" - which is a biggest stepping stone in animation history), I hadn't really seen this film until around last April. I have even looked at some back story on how this film went too. Surely it isn't as successful as "The Lion King" did, but there are plenty of fans of animated films would enjoy the film all the same.
And lastly, I'd recommended to those who would like to see a love story in a non-disney film directed by Richard Rich. In my opinion, it may not be the best - but I would say this was pretty much better than "Thumberlina" any day.
