First off, dont listen to these critics. The Super Mario movie is an introduction to the Mario brothers to mushroom kingdom. So don't expect to see every character. The voice acting was good, the way the portrayed the characters make sense.
Mario was isakai to mushroom kingdom, separated from Luigi and determined to find him. You can't say Luigi was sideline for Princess Peach. Everyone have their time in the spotlight.
