Great fan service, colorful, extraordinary animation and music, this movie gives everything a fan would have wanted from a modern Mario movie.

Critics who are saying the movie is "souless" have clearly never played a mario game, it is not about a deep psichological story, Mario is and has always been a about a simple (and sometimes repetitive) story but with greatly executed gameplay that is fun to play, and Mario movie does exactly the same for the big screen.
