Review of The Suicide Squad (2021) by Thisguy1 — 06 Aug 2021
6.5 out of 10. Although it was definitely an entertaining film, it let me down a bit. I feel like a lot was given away by the trailers. The best jokes, the best shots (King Shark ripping the man in half and Harley going full berserker with flower pedals exploding behind her), and some key details of the film (that there were going to be two suicide squad teams with the Harley, Boomerang, Weasel, TDK, Savant, Javalin, and Mongal being a team that would likely be wiped out early in the film resulting in Harley needing [not really] to be rescued AND that Polka Dot Man was almost certainly going to die after declaring himself a hero) were all given away in the trailers.
Other than that, the film was very enjoyable just a bit predictable due to poor marketing. The best surprises were how cool Bloodsport's gimmick ending up looking and how well done Ratcatcher 2's story was - on an emotional level.
