Review of The Suicide Squad (2021) by Davidgmt — 06 Aug 2021
So... Gunn went Rian Johnson's way of subverting expectations and killed almost everyone in first 10 minutes. This movie is more cartoonish than Tom & Jerry. It's bright, gory, trying too hard to be fun and most of the humor comes from voice acting done by Sly.
Waller is not herself. It's hard to believe she let her staff live after what they did to her in the final act. Remember, this is the woman who killed everyone expendable during rescue in Ayer's movie.
Also, her office now looks like a shelter for homeless. There are no real shockers but the movie is really well cut and the simplicity of the story is it's biggest advantage. Not sure if it's worth watching in theater.
Rather a meh than a bang.
