'The Sugarland Express' is Steven Spielberg's first theatrical movie, and is altogether exceptional entertainment. This first-rate production is great fun from start to finish with an interesting concept executed stylishly.

Lou Jean Poplin (Hawn) has a criminal record and her son Langston (Zanuck) has been taken away from her. Determined to get her son back, she meets her inmate husband at a prison and encourages him to escape.

On the run, the two fugitives travel with a kidnapped police officer (Sacks), followed by the entire police force across the state of Texas to Sugarland, where they plan to get their baby back. The film is a fascinating drama with elements of drama and comedy.

It's an extremely enjoyable film that is made all the more impressive with the knowledge of it being Spielberg's first theatrical movie. The film also marks the first great Spielberg collaberation with composer John Williams.

For the fans of Spielberg, 'The Sugarland Express' is a must!
