Review of The Sugarland Express (1974) by Michael F — 12 Mar 2009
Spielberg's first major motion picture, although applauded by critics, was not a box office success. Based on true events, the performances throughout are excellent, especially Goldie Hawn who, although known more for her comedies, is quite memorable in this emotionally charged drama.
It is the first time Spielberg would take on the theme of separated family members trying to reunite. A theme that would dominate almost all of his movies since.
