Review of The Stuff (1985) by Steven B — 01 Mar 2009
The Stuff is a very cheesy, shlocky 80s horror movie with a underlying social anti-commercialism message. The acting and general story writing was ludicrous, which is why I give this a low rating. But I did enjoy it in a "so bad its good" kind of way.
I thought the commercialism message was a little heavy-handed, and could have been conveyed in a more creative way. The characters are really presented as over-the-top caracatures. This is both a bad thing and an amusing thing.
Michael Moriarity's "Mo" reminded me a lot of Matthew McConaughey, and made me laugh in almost every scene. The boy Jason and Paul Sorvino's Colonel Spears also had some crazy lines.
If you like unintennally funny 80s B-horror, definitely check out "The Stuff.".
