Review of The Strangers: Prey at Night (2018) by Kris C — 16 Mar 2018
A very sleek film with surprisingly good acting and thrills. A very effective set up in terms of horror movies really sets the tone and gives a fair amount of depth to our soon-to-be victims. While the movie falls into typical horror movie cliches, the camera work and use of darkness and shadows keep the movie exciting.
The killers masks are used to great dramatic effect here as well. A little more of the spot light is put on the strangers themselves as well. While they still don't have any real motive or any dialog much like last time, this time around you get to learn about the sadistic killers just from their eyes alone, making some of the scenes quite chilling.
A certain extended scene that involves a pool that will make viewers squirm with anxiety and delight. All of this leads up to a fantastic finale that won't soon be forgotten for horror movie fanatics like myself.
