Stephen Thrower champions THE STRANGENESS is his book NIGHTMARE U.S.A., and feeling like a much larger production, all $25k of production costs is all over the screen. It's slow in places, with most of the action coming in the final third, but the restrictive cave sets and limited lighting give a claustrophobic atmosphere that feels as if the walls just keep getting tighter and tighter the lower the miners travel.

Code Red has gone out of their way to put together a fine DVD package that even contains the student films from the directors, and one could even label this a student production as the producers were still enrolled at the time.
