Review of The Straight Story (1999) by Clare T — 25 May 2008
Wow, an actual David Lynch movie that isn't trying too hard to be moving. That is exactly what this one does. Which gives Lynch a very uncharacterisic look at his work in several ways. First it's G rated, second it doesn't try to be something it's not (it leaves that to the viewer to pick up, which isn't hard to grasp if you have a heart) and finally it isn't some yuppie surrealistic mess.
Wonderful and beautiful film.
