Disney and David Lynch? Who would have thought? A simple story about Alvin Straight's journey via lawn mower from Iowa to Wisconsin is simple but eloquent. At times you expect the film to slip through a black hole and wander into genuine Lynchian territory, and while it doesn't, there are moments so unique that you can't deny his touch.
Sweet, but like a confection from an unfamiliar country. Richard Fainsworth is superb.
