Review of The Straight Story (1999) by Stephen L — 23 Sep 2008
A change of pace from the regular Lynch fare, but it's just as good and just as affecting. Where all his other films are so far out there this one could not be more simple and to the point. A simple story told in a direct way.
It may move a little slow but I think that's part of it's charm. Richard Farnsworth is perfect in this role and Sissy Spacek is an interesting character in this one. The film visually speaking is beautifully composed and shot.
This is certainly something you'd never expect from Lynch but it works nonetheless.
