Review of The Story of Adèle H. (1975) by Aaron W — 25 Aug 2008
Nobody does crazy like Isabelle Adjani. In this she's the obsessive daughter of famous author, Victor Hugo. Adele, travels from Guersney to Nova Scotia in the hopes that she can convince English soldier Albert Pinson to marry her as he once promised to. Unfortunately for her he's no longer interested, and unfortunately for him she's not gonna take no for an answer.
The film is lovely, Adjani's lovely and intense, but there's something missing that I can't quite put my finger on. Still, that it's based on the diaries of the real Adele Hugo is fairly impressive and overall the film is definitely worth a watch.
