This movie is very eye-opening to the fact that stoning is still used in third world countries but I'm not real sure where else the author of the book was trying to go with it. Yes, it was a sad movie and difficult to watch once the stoning scene starts that's really all there was to it, no true statement against stoning or anything, just kinda sad.
