Review of The Stickup (2002) by Jeffrey M — 27 Jun 2012
The Stickup is a low-key crime thriller/noir that works largely because of the cast, and a decent, though imperfect script. James Spader has just the right amount of presence and charm to carry his role, and generally has some good chemistry with Leslie Stefanson. The script, though derivative, has enough twits to keep things interesting, though it has some notable dialogue deficiencies. The biggest failing of the film is the ending, which boarders on self-parody, but the first two thirds of the film are executed well enough to make it watchable.
3/5 Stars.
