Review of The Stepfather (1987) by Joshua G — 08 Jul 2007
Okay, the movie itself perhaps left some to wish for, but I got so scared after it (and I don't scare easily) it deserves a higher rating. Granted, it wasn't so much the movie that scared me as it was the circumstances.
See, after watching the movie, I went downstairs to get me some water. When I came down the lights outside was on and that meant something was moving around out there. Probably some sort of animal, but it scared the crap out of me! And then my twisted mind started referring to the movie and the creepy father - must say Terry O'Quinn was quite perfect in his role - and that made the whole ordeal completely unbearable.
.. Besides, once again it has been proven I almost solely get scared by movies from the 80's. Why? Well, they tend to be based on the thought of crazy people close to home - you know brother going crazy, mother killing everyone, that sort of thing - and that scares me more than a bunch of little aliens running around.
