Review of The Stepfather (1987) by Amy D — 13 Nov 2009
Unlike the remake, this original is pretty much stripped of back story and unnecessary additions. This is a good thing. It gets things going and is what it is. A new take on the slasher formula. More of a thriller.
It doesn't meander like the remake and is overall a better film. The premise is simple and doesn't ask much from it's audience. Terry O'Quinn is fantastic.
