Review of The Steel Helmet (1951) by Hm F — 16 Mar 2011
Fascinating war film proves you don't need a huge budget to make a classic. Sam Fuller adds allot of interest to this picture with a tight focus on character and dialogue that fleshes out the ragtag band of soldiers.
The arrival at the Buddhist temple and its subsequent defense by the troops makes for some taut tension. This is a minimalist movie that lives through its convincing but low key production design and a memorable cast.
